About us
The business started in 1945 as a second hand furniture
business, by James Welsh. After many years it slowly evolved into
antiques and passed to the next generation. It was during this time that the
name changed to Welsh Rare Bits, a play on the words of our name and what we
sold. We thought it was clever, but we do get a lot of people come in looking
for coffee and toasted cheese.
The wheels of time continued to turn and we evolved to what we are today and
into the ownership of the 3rd generation.
We moved to our current shop in Bearsden in 1982. Here we discovered that
customers liked the quality of our goods but were not necessarily wanting
antiques. We introduced new Royal Doulton, Moorcroft and Royal Crown Derby. The
outcome of this is that 85% of the goods that we sell are new and of a
similar high standard.
